Job Description

The Grounds and Buildings Maintenance Worker is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance, and repair of both the exterior and interior of buildings, including surrounding landscapes. This includes performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and addressing any repair needs in a timely and efficient manner to ensure the safety and functionality of the property. Responsibilities:

• Regularly drive a forklift and company vehicles.
• Regularly collect and dispose of trash and debris from the grounds to maintain cleanliness.
• Ensure outdoor walkways, driveways, and parking lots are in good condition, remove hazards, and report to the maintenance supervisor any repairs that may be needed.
• Perform minor repairs to walls, doors, windows, flooring, and ceilings. Patch cracks, fix leaks, and handle basic electrical, plumbing, or HVAC problems.
• Maintain and repair fixtures such as lights, plumbing, and door hardware.
• Perform interior and exterior painting as needed to maintain a clean and attractive appearance.
• Provide relief and support to maintenance technicians and the maintenance supervisor.
• Perform daily water sampling.
• Conduct regular inspections of the building and grounds to identify maintenance needs.
• Perform routine checks on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and other critical infrastructure to prevent failures.
• Ensure all grounds and building repairs comply with safety regulations and building codes.
• Address any safety hazards promptly, including broken railings, slippery walkways, or malfunctioning lighting.
• Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous materials (e.g., paint, cleaning agents, etc.).
• Keep detailed records of maintenance tasks completed, including time, materials used, and costs associated with repairs.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in groundskeeping or building maintenance preferred.
• Basic knowledge of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC), lawn care, and landscaping.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various weather conditions, and perform manual labor tasks.
• Ability to use a variety of tools and machinery (e.g., lawn mowers, snowplows, power washers).
• Ability to identify maintenance issues and resolve them efficiently.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and management.
• Certification in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or a related trade is a plus.
