Client is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support the Prismatic (Complex Milling) Manufacturing Group in East Aurora, NY. This role is critical in developing new manufacturing processes for advanced aerospace components and implementing continuous improvement strategies on existing production lines. The position requires both strategic thinking and hands-on involvement to drive process innovation and operational excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead the development of advanced and efficient manufacturing processes for complex milled aerospace components.
Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives with cross-functional engineering teams across new and existing programs.
Develop CNC programs using CAD/CAM tools (preferably Siemens NX) and ensure G&M code proficiency.
Create detailed manufacturing documentation, including tooling and gauge lists, work instructions, and operation sheets.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives across production processes, driving productivity and quality enhancements.
Conduct cost and time estimations for new business and process optimization projects.
Evaluate and implement capital equipment acquisitions to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
Act as a technical resource and mentor to other manufacturing engineers and shop personnel.
Collaborate closely with machining, quality, and operations teams on the shop floor.
Support automated manufacturing cells and promote lean manufacturing principles.
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required (approximately 5%).
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or a related technical field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering focused on milled parts.
At least 5 years of hands-on machining experience.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for CNC programming (Siemens NX preferred).
Deep knowledge of cutting tools, workholding design, and automation tooling.
Strong understanding of CNC programming principles, G&M code, and 5-axis machining.
Experience working with aerospace materials including aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.
Proficiency in blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Familiarity with Client's machining platforms (Okuma MU series, Mazak I-600) is a plus.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across multiple disciplines and mentor team members.
Demonstrated leadership in lean manufacturing and standardized work practices (Lean belt certification a plus).
Proven ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with MS Project is a plus.
