Job Description

Primary Function : Under the Supervision of the Workforce Development Director, The Workforce Development Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating programs that teens for postsecondary success and career readiness. This role supports academic achievement, career exploration, and workforce integration through strategic partnerships, individualized support, and community engagement.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Ability to support the BGCGC mission, vision and youth development philosophy in a manner that resonates with staff, Youth Workforce members, volunteers and partners through leadership.
  • Provide and ensure the delivery of programs reflecting the Workforce Development model of Education, Exposure, Exploration, and Engagement .
  • Continually evaluate programs to assess their impact on Youth Workforce members. Provide guidance to other staff members relative to impact.
  • Lead programs and remain in ratio throughout the day; ensure that necessary supplies are in place to implement daily programs.
  • Increase visibility of Workforce Development programs by posting daily schedule, announcing upcoming events and disseminating timely program information to caregivers, schools and other community agencies.
  • Ensure that the Youth Program Quality Intervention tool is implemented.
Program Development & Facilitation
• Design, implement, and evaluate workforce development programs tailored to teens (e.g., resume building, interview prep, career exploration, soft skills).
• Coordinate career-readiness workshops, job fairs, and workplace visits.
• Facilitate or coordinate job-shadowing, internships, and youth employment experiences.

Job & Internship Placement
• Develop partnerships with local employers, businesses, and internship providers.
• Match teens with appropriate job or internship opportunities based on skills, interests, and goals.
• Support teens throughout application, interview, onboarding, and job retention processes.

Administrative & Data Management
• Track and report on youth participation, employment outcomes, and program impact.
• Maintain teen files, partnership contacts, and documentation for grant reporting.
• Manage program calendar, registration, and attendance systems.

Supervision
  • Serve as direct supervisor of Program Leaders
  • Conduct weekly supervision meetings with Program Leader(s)
  • Oversee proper record-keeping procedures as required for timely reporting.
  • Ensure productive and effective performance by all program staff and volunteers to ensure coordination of programming and integration of Education, Exposure, Exploration, Engagement.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and regular appraisal to program staff, volunteers, and programming partners ensuring adherence to Workforce Development Center policies.
  • Serve as acting Director in their absence.
Youth Program Quality Intervention (YPQI)
  • Willingness and ability to become a certified YPQI external assessor.
  • Responsible for the training and implementation of the YPQI method (training provided)
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with Youth Workforce members that are conducive to their growth and development.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for Youth Workforce members and staff, including routine maintenance and clean-up activities.
Collaboration
  • Assist Workforce Development Site Director with establishing and maintaining Average Daily Attendance goals and Youth Workforce participation goals.
  • Develop and maintain community partnerships to enhance programming and community awareness.
  • Coordinate and or support special programs and/or events (Awards Night, Youth of the Year, etc.).
  • Collaborates with internal departments and community partners to align workforce initiatives with holistic youth development.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with employers, school counselors, caregivers, community partners, etc.
  • Serves as a key liaison between youth participants, families, and workforce partners.
  • Participates in community coalitions and workforce-related networks to stay informed and advocate for teen employment pathways
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
We maintain a 15:1 member to staff ratio.  Activities are varied and require active engagement during educational and recreational programming, which may include extended periods of walking and standing. Activities will be varied due to working with youth and could require running and extended periods of standing and walking. Maximum unassisted lift = 50 lbs. Average lift less than 25 lbs. Requires ability to use computer, various standard and specialized software and database systems, keyboard, calculator and typical office machines. Requires travel to other Clubs and community agencies for meetings and training events.
Environmental Requirements
Inside average office environment. Average office noise levels. No personal protective equipment required. Ambient temperature is between 68 and 76 degrees Fahrenheit. May be required to perform duties outside of the office environment, such as in gym space, cafeteria space or outside with exposure to sunlight, dirt, wind and varying temperatures of 35 degrees to 98 degrees Fahrenheit.
Skills/Knowledge Required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in youth development, education, human services, or related field — or at least six (6) years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young people in a positive manner
  • Strong facilitation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead program staff. Prior experience a plus.
  • Strong time management and project prioritization skills
  • Experience in a Boys & Girls Club, Youth Workforce Development or similar organization planning, and supervising programs based on the developmental needs of young people.
  • CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention certification required.
